Both Finasteride and Cialis drugs are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They serve different purposes. Finasteride drugs are used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness (MPB) or alopecia in men. While Cialis drugs are used for treating erectile dysfunction or impotence issues in men.
Cialis drugs contain an active ingredient called Tadalafil, which is an agent that can improve two conditions – erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The function of tadalafil is to increase the flow of blood to the genitals of the males and improve both these difficulties.
Difficulties
According to the Mayo Clinic, a combination of Finasteride and tadalafil drugs is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. BPH happens because of the abnormal growth of the prostate. The prostate is a gland that is located just below the bladder, and it swells up because of the unusual growth of its cells. Its enlarged size can give rise to difficulties like:
- Pain and discomfort
- Difficulty while urinating
- Frequent urge to urinate several times in the night
- Burning pain while passing the urine
- Blood in urine or semen
- Difficulties in getting erections
There are several factors that potentiate the risk of prostate enlargement, they include – age, family history, weight, and ethnicity.
About benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH)
Benign prostate hyperplasia or Prostate enlargement in this condition happens because of several factors like aging, mutations in the testicular cells, or hormonal imbalances. Individuals with an enlarged prostate may experience difficulties urinating. It can also give rise to erection difficulties.
The possibility of BPH is quite high among older men. Some pain and increased discomfort are felt in the pelvic region due to the abnormal growth of the prostate gland. This discomfort can affect the normal functioning of the surrounding organs which supports urination and aids the process of ejaculation. BPH can cause difficulties in getting erections and it can also give rise to ejaculatory problems.
The sudden growth of the prostate gland can be mainly attributed to DNA mutations that take place inside the cell of the prostate, which leads to the unusual development of the glandular cells of the prostate. The rapid mutations and cell division happening in the prostate lead to a sudden increase in the size of the prostate, thereby giving rise to benign prostate hyperplasia.
Treating BPH with Finasteride and Cialis
Both Finasteride and Cialis are prescription-only drugs. One cannot buy them without consulting a healthcare provider. The dose and consumption pattern will be suggested by the healthcare provider. One must stick to the prescribed dosage and continue taking the drugs till the doctor has recommended it.
Finasteride action
These drugs inhibit the action of enzymes called 5-alpha-reductase. They block these enzymes and prevent them from increasing the size of the prostate gland any further. 5-alpha-reductase works by causing the conversion of testosterone hormone to some other hormone, which causes the prostate to grow abnormally. However, Finasteride action boosts the levels of testosterone levels and reduces prostate size.
Cialis action
Cialis pills are brand-name versions of tadalafil drugs. Tadalafil comes under the class of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors and their function is to block the action of PDE5 enzymes from working too quickly. The PDE5 enzymes can contribute to the enlargement of the prostate gland. Tadalafil inhibits the PDE5 enzymatic action and prevents prostate enlargement. It reduces the symptoms, making them less severe. Also, it can eliminate the chances of prostate surgery.
When is the right time to see your doctor?
You must see your general healthcare provider when you start to experience discomfort and pain around your pelvis. After examining your condition if they suspect BPH, then they will suggest you see a urologist that can conduct further diagnostic tests and rule out BPH treatment.
Sometimes, the individual might not even feel any pain, but they might experience some symptoms related to BPH. When any of these symptoms appear, one must see their doctor immediately. Such issues are more common among older adults.
The urologist will order screening test reports to identify the actual cause of discomfort and pain in the pelvic region. Based on the test reports, they will evaluate the reason for prostate enlargement, and further, suggest to you the appropriate treatment.
